The great New year's eve disaster...........

December 28th:
An offer came in to play on New year's eve from a venue who had just been let down by a band. If only we could have helped them out...

December 31st:
Steve's cold had migrated to Ian E, who practically had no singing voice left. The Club we were booked into was quite nice, but the audience for the most part were of the age where they would 'need to be assisted home'. We went on and did our soundcheck and were given the obligatory request to turn it down, which we did, as we don't want to offend anyone with volume. The first spot went reasonably smoothly, but there were a couple of hecklers who looked like they'd been in all day and they were determined to be heard over us.

The long wait while the main attraction of the evening (the bingo) took place seemed interminable. A number of people came up to us and said nice things about us (obviously a little embarrased by the local hecklers). We were asked to do a short 'easy listening' spot for about 35 minutes and then a third spot later on, so we threw together a quick second set of fairly non-challenging tunes for them to listen to. At the end of that, we handed the crowd back over to the compere. The last bingo had gone and so had a lot of the pensioners - so home we came.

On the way home, Col's SatNav took the crew on a tour of the same parts of Yorkshire we had already seen a number of times before, before finally leading most of us in the direction of the wrong motorway exit.

Goodbye 2006 - thanks to everyone who helped make it memorable!
